I know it has been a few days, but nothing very interesting has been going on around my house. The dogs have been really good other than Roxy sneaking out of not only the back yard, but also the front. I thought I had blocked her escape route until I was talking to Jacob on the phone and had just heard the dogs going crazy in the back yard. I went out to check on them and Tater came running in, but no Roxy. I check the back and front yards and didn't think to go outside the yard since the gate was closed. I kept looking for her and calling her name while Jacob was making sure I looked everywhere possible for her. Finally the neighbor came over and told me he saw her over by the busy street. Sure enough, she was making her way from yard to yard looking for anything to eat. She is a little
scavenger and will go in search for anything that remotely looks edible. One time she came back with a Wendy's chili cup and lid stuck on her nose. Boy do I wish I had gotten a picture of that one.
While making dinner I left the back door open so the dogs could play in the back yard and I could keep an eye on them in case Roxy tried sneaking out again. They did really well and stayed in the yard the whole time. That is until I went to change my clothes. I was in the bedroom when Tater came running in and gave me an "oh no Mom, she did it again" look. I knew Roxy had snuck out again. I went running outside and sure enough there was Roxy in the front yard standing at Trisha's car door waiting for her to get out so she could pounce. When my dad came over I had him help me block the escape route and thought the problem was solved.
I've been thinking of different things to do that would let me know when Roxy gets out so I don't have to keep them in the house all the time. This morning I realized I already have something that works great. Its name is Tater. I noticed she would whine when Roxy would get out, but that would take me a while to hear, so she has changed her alert. I let them out this morning and sat down to do some things thinking Roxy was confined to the back yard. I knew the second Tater started barking that Roxy had gotten out again. Sure enough, the front gate was wide open and Roxy was across the circle. What would I do without Tater.?!
